Bob

OK, so the mobster thing didn't work out last year. Who knew it would be so hard to get a union card? So I have resigned myself to the fact that my career is boring, and I might as well get on with becoming a cranky old man (OK, I probably started this a while ago). So, with that in mind, here is my cranky old man Christmas list.

Lawn & Garden: You can't very well yell at kids to "Get off My Lawn! (add sound of shotgun cocking)" if you lawn isn't nice. So I need a couple things to help me spruce it up (and in cranky old man style, they are in order of importance):

Front-Mount Dethatcher (Agri fab 45-0343 will fit the other equipment I have)

A Tow Spreader (Cheapest you can find): Like this one

Tractor mounted lawn roller (the cheapest you can find): So I don't trip on the divots in my lawn and break my hip. An example would be the Precision Products PLR1836 18-by-36-Inch Lawn Roller

(PLEASE NOTE: When I looked online for these items, they appeared to be much more expensive than when I looked at them in fall - likely due to the season. Instead of being 60% or 70% off the retail price, they were more than like 10% off retail now. That makes these items overly expensive. So, it might be better to give a gift certificate for these to be purchased at a more appropriate time of the year. How's that for being a cranky old man - I just put stuff on my list and then suggest you don't buy it. I am getting the hang of this!)

Style: Cranky old men have a style (and often aroma) all their own. To this end, I could always use:

Plaid. I apparently need much more plaid.

Sweaters: Cranky old men are always cold. I have been enjoying more quarter zip sweaters and sweatshirts. The optimal size is a XXL tall.

Tools: It seems cranky old men spend much of their time working at workbenches - often finishing little else than beer. There may be a growth opportunity for me here.

Drill Bits: I managed to break a couple of the drill bits I have had forever (bought at Hectors Hardware, when we lived on Moore). I am looking for their replacement. So I am looking for a set of "High Speed Steel" bits. They are more expensive than regular bits, and a little harder to find, but do appear to be worth it. Here is an example.

Since cranky old men have trouble seeing, I would like a couple utility lights that I could use to light my workbench or use in projects.

Cranky old man disclosure: I reserve the right to forget to add anything to the list, forget that I had a list, strongly argue that if I had a list - the gift you just gave me was not on it, forget who gave me what, tell you that the gift you gave was almost right - but you actually purchased the inferior item directly next to the perfect one I really wanted, forget your name, forget my name, and claim something I forgot to add to this disclosure was plainly included here. Now, Get Off My Christmas List! (shotgun cocking)

·         Three-piece suit, demin

Christy

  •  Well, as you may have seen from my husband’s list, I live with an old crank. Therefore, my Christmas list is filled with things that I HOPE will get me through another year with this curmudgeon. Here goes:

1.  Fun/seasonal/etc paper muffin wrappers. Got to keep him in bran muffins if anyone in the house is going to get any peace. I may need a gift certificate for a plumber next year, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

2.  Slap/Chop style veggie cutter. The old fogey wants dinner on the table faster. Early bird special, anyone?

3.  Long, 24” simple silver chain to put my charms on. Need a longer one to wear over my winter sweaters. Old geezer keeps the heat down so low…

4.  Anything from my wish list on Amazon.com. One word. Escapism.

·         My hobbies that don’t attract too many complaints from the old guy include cooking, bird/squirrel watching and feeding, reading, and playing with the boys.

·         And finally, frankly, something nice for Bob, to make up for this list : )

·         More jicama!

Liam

·          Both boys would like Madagascar 3

o        Attack of the Wargs

o        Shelob Attacks

o        The Orc Forges

o        Uruk-Hai army

·         Whitman’s chocolate sampler

·         Minifigure storage case for Legos

·         Mario Galaxy DS video game

·         Liam likes music (gift cards for mp3s?), animals, playing in the pool and snow, favorite colors are green and tie-dye, wears a size 12 boys clothes

·         (As an aside, if anyone has men’s dress shoes in sizes 9.5 or 10 they don’t need, they are welcome here! But, not likely terribly welcome for Christmas!

·         Lego Dentist Office

Eamonn

·          Books (is really taking off in reading himself, but would enjoy ones to be read to him as well)

·         Energy Zane Ninjago Spinner (Lego)

·         A digital watch

·         Playdough (cans, not sets)
