The board
is the beneficiary of two taxes levied on
‒ In 2009, a permanent levy was approved by voters. The
permanent levy was sought because the cost of caring for the population is
often for life. It costs the owner of a $100,000 home about $107 per year
and raises about $94.2 million per year.
‒ In 2013, voters approved a six-year levy also estimated to
raise $94.2 million per year. It costs the owner of a $100,000 home about
$107 per year. It expires at the end of 2018. The board wants to extend this
levy for 10 more years, with collections beginning in 2019. It will not
increase taxes.
Together the two levies provide more than 75% of
the agency’s support.
